We are committed to environmental sustainability by protecting our natural resources and taking care of our
environment through sustainable agriculture and production practices.
We take all steps necessary to ensure that we do not impact negatively on the environment and to decrease our carbon footprint measurement.
Reducing our Carbon Footprint
We were the first dairy company in Africa to publish our carbon footprint on our milk bottles.
In 2019 we changed our Fair Cape EcoFresh milk bottle from white PET to clear PET.
See why we did this: PETCO Gamechanger Awards 2019.
We have been generating renewable energy at our milking parlour since October 2018.
We have a group recycling target of 50%, diverting as much waste from landfill as possible.
We had our EcoFresh carbon footprint measured in 2012 and reassessed in 2015.
We constantly strive to implement actions that contribute towards carbon reduction.
FARMING PRACTICES
Our farming practices follow a firm commitment to sustainable agriculture. As part of our sustainable agriculture policy we have achieved the following:
Restored the natural biological balance in our agricultural soil.
Reduced the use of chemical fertilisers by 20%.
Implemented eco-friendly farming practices.
Operated our milking parlour based on EcoFresh methods since 2005.
