3 days agoChantel Joubert_Sniffles_ Oh, where do I even begin? I'm just so overwhelmed with emotion thinking about the incredible work of the Cape Town Child Welfare Society... _Wipes away tears_ You see, I've had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the life-changing impact they've had on the lives of vulnerable children and families in our community. _Chokes back a sob_ Their dedication, compassion, and selflessness are truly inspiring. From providing shelter and support to those affected by poverty, abuse, and neglect, to advocating for children's rights and well-being... _Sobs_ They're the real MVPs! I remember meeting a young girl who was a beneficiary of their programs, and seeing the spark of hope in her eyes after being given a second chance at life... _Tears streaming down face_ It was like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, and she finally felt seen and loved. _Sobs uncontrollably_ The R15,000 prize would be a game-changer for them, allowing them to continue and expand their vital work. _Wipes away tears_ I just can't imagine what would happen to these precious children without organizations like Cape Town Child Welfare Society... _Breaks down in tears_ Please, please, please consider recognizing them for this award. They deserve it more than words can express. #FairCape30 #LocalHeroes #CommunityChampions #TearfulNomination

Johanna Jowi MoasaIn the quiet town called klipfontein view , where most people sleep soundly through the night, thereβs one woman who doesnβt. Her name is Elisa , a 22 year-old nurse who has become the heartbeat of our communityβnot because she wears a uniform, but because she carries the burdens of strangers without hesitation, day after dayβ¦ and night after night. During the pandemic, when fear turned neighbors into strangers and silence filled the streets, Elisa did something extraordinary. She converted her small family car into a mobile care unit, using her own money. While hospitals were overwhelmed and ambulance wait times stretched into hours, Elisa drove through the night, oxygen tank in the backseat, checking in on elderly patients and delivering supplies to families in isolation. She called it βMidnight Medicineββbut for us, it was hope on wheels. There was one night Iβll never forget. A 7-year-old boy in our area had a severe asthma attack, and his family had no car. It was 2:30 a.m. when Asha, despite finishing a 12-hour hospital shift, picked them up and raced them to the nearest clinic, talking calmly to the boy the whole way, helping him breathe until he could be stabilized. She never told anyone about it. Even now, long after the crisis has passed, Elisa continues to show upβnot for recognition, but because thatβs who she is. Whether itβs giving out school supplies, organizing blood drives, or simply holding someoneβs hand when they need it, Elisa never asks βWhatβs in it for me?β She asks, βWhat do you need?β Elisa is not famous. She doesnβt have medals, titles, or a following. But in our town, when people speak her name, they smile. And in a world that often forgets its quiet warriors, I believe itβs time we remember hers. Mosima Elisa Moasa is my hero. And I hope, today, she becomes yours tooβ₯οΈ.

2Zanele MaziI am nominating Dorcas Ga Maro as one of the best Community Heroes I know. She secured a sponsor for a school in the community, and one of the sponsors donated R20,000 towards the sports facility for the school. When asked why she went out of her way to get such a generous donation for a school and not herself, she responded, "I saw the condition of the school ground while the kids were playing, and I knew that help was needed because it takes a village to raise a child." To me, that was the moment I saw a true Unsung Hero who many are still proud of. I also know that a heart like that never stops beating for greatness #FairCape30 #LocalHeroes #BetterEveryDay #CommunityChampions
